Philadelphia Zorg (NL) supports people with disabilities in leading their lives. Philadelphia has asked Virtually Human to create a cartoonish Digital Human that is deployed on their "Mo Online" platform, and who acts as a “buddy” for their clients.

Philadelphia Zorg supports people with disabilities in leading their lives. Their online platform “Mo” serves as a digital community for clients where they can find useful information, interact and play games. Philadelphia as asked Virtually Human to create a Digital Human that acts as a “buddy” for their clients and that – in the future – should be able to support clients in their daily lives.

Virtually Human CEO, Guido Jongen, sat down on the "Ontbijt Talkshow" podcast (in Dutch) with project leaders and collaborators from Philadephia Zorg to discuss the development and research behind Noah. During this breakfast talk show, they talk through the most important research results, the vision behind NOAH, and practical experiences gained during the process.

“NOAH is not just AI – it is a digital human that really gets close.”

At the podcast table:
• Hessel Rienstra – host
• Astrid de Meijer – strategic advisor & project initiator
• Guido Jongen – advisor on digital humans, AI models & technology
• Beppie Jansen – expert by experience and tester of NOAH

From vision to practical experience.

The appearance of the Digital Human has been designed by a group of students in the Minor "Digital Humans - Real Fake, Real Impact" of the Rotterdam University of Applied Science. Based on interviews with the people who will be using Noah (as she is called) once she is deployed, there was a strong wish for a cartoonish looking Digital Human to make clear that they are not chatting with a real person.

Since December 2024, another team of students has been working on the content for Noah. A first version was deployed in 2025 and has now been tested on 100 clients with a light mental disability. While the final results are still being analyzed, Philadelphia has put together a PDF with some initial findings that they hope will help other organizations that are exploring how Digital Humans can support their customers and communities.
